Life List

I started this a while ago and figured it was about time to make it public.

Originally, I was inspired by Ryan at This is Reverb when he posted about his life list. It’s pretty fantastic.

That day, I started a list. I’ll include my list here (including what I’ve accomplished and what now needs to be changed) along with some new things I want to accomplish.

  1. Read the Bible from cover to cover
  2. Deepen my relationship with God
  3. Deepen my relationship with DH
  4. Buy a horse
  5. Pass my January 31, 2009 exam –> Passed!
  6. Pass the UFE —> Passed on December 4, 2009!!
  7. Go to Africa
  8. Spend Christmas is Costa Rica with L&P
  9. Buy a Nissan GTR –> Does a Nissan 370z count?!
  10. Learn to love my body
  11. Work out 4 days a week for a year –> started running 4 days/week on June 22, 2010
  12. Have a baby
  13. Improve my relationship with my dad
  14. Improve my relationship with my sister
  15. Learn how to be a better photographer
  16. Post 365 photos on Flickrs YIP group
  17. Meet a fellow blogger in person -> And……DONE! I met the wonderful MommyByDay on October 3. She’s a sweatheart. I think we all had a fantastic time at breakfast.
  18. Live in our 32nd floor condo without any worries/regrets –>  Moved in June 23, 2009!  No regrets yet
  19. Be mortgage free by 40
  20. See a Formula 1 race in person
  21. Go to a UFC fight (preferrably GSP)
  22. Get a meaningful tattoo
  23. Get to know my step-dad better
  24. Learn how to cut cattle (rodeo style!)
  25. Live in Australia for a year
  26. Tour the wineries in California
  27. Take The Cowboy to Disneyland and Disneyworld –> Disneyland in October 2011!
  28. Be promoted to “senior” in 2009 –>  Promotion effective August 1, 2009!
  29. Receive a raise and bonus with the promotion –>  Halfway there.  Raise?  Check.  Bonus?  Nope. Maybe 2010 I will see a bonus? But it’s not looking promising…
  30. See our business be successful –> so far so good! We’ve had some ups and downs in 2010, but so far, we’re okay.
  31. Retire at 55
  32. Watch less TV
  33. Spend less time “doing nothing” on the internet
  34. Learn how to budget –> almost there. I finally put together a budget for us. March 2011 is month one.
  35. Run a marathon
  36. Stop worrying about money
  37. Learn Spanish
  38. Improve my German
  39. Go to Germany for my opa’s 85 birthday in 2010 –> And what an amazing trip it was!
  40. Become SCUBA certified
  41. See Machu Pichu in Peru
  42. Take an Alaskan cruise
  43. Take a Mediterranean cruise
  44. Visit penguins in Antarctica
  45. See Niagara Falls
  46. Visit the Niagara wineries
  47. Finally get baptized
  48. Get to know the members of our bible study better –> throughout 2010 we’ve gotten to know 2 members quite well. But I’m not crossing this one off yet.
  49. Go to a movie premiere
  50. Ski a black diamond run
  51. Learn how to water-ski
  52. Own a seadoo, boat
  53. Go on a church mission
  54. Visit the pyramids in Egypt
  55. See my opa’s house in Danzig, Poland –> pictures to come! I was there in May 2010
  56. Snorkel with hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos Islands
  57. Fast (from something) for 40 days
  58. Take The Cowboy back to Mexico –> Christmas 2010! Awesome :)
  59. Have a photograph published –> on PW’s website! (last photograph in the post)
  60. Start up a photography website with The Cowboy –> Done and done! You can check it out here (9/14/2010)
  61. Sell a picture from the above mentioned website
  62. Be able to work from home 1 day a week
  63. Go to CMA Music Fest (hello Nashville!)
  64. Go to New York on a trip with The Cowboy
  65. Figure out what to do career-wise
  66. Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge in the fog
  67. Go to China and see the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors
  68. Climb a mountain
  69. Fly in a helicopter
  70. Take my cousin to the Kentucky Derby when she graduates high school
  71. Do a half Ironman triathlon
  72. Run a half marathon –> completed October 10, 2010.
  73. See the volcanoes erupting in Hawaii
  74. Form a life long friendship and maintain it through ups and downs (The Boy’s? Maybe?)
  75. See our business pay back the money we loaned it by the end of 2011 –> done. October 21, 2010. I’m an overachiever.
  76. Get one more big customer for the business by the end of (now revised to 2 customers in 2011)
  77. Run a half marathon in 1:55
  78. Read all the books on the 30 Books everyone should read before their 30th birthday (you can see my progress here)
  79. Take a sommelier course
  80. Own a sequined dress –> does a sequined shirt count?
  81. Do 1 nice thing a month for The Cowboy
  82. Buy property and build a house on it
  83. Take (and post) 1 picture a day for 2011 (pictures will be posted here) –> currently failing miserably.
  84. Go to Seattle
  85. Go to San Francisco
  86. Have boudoir photos taken of me for our new bedroom
  87. Save $40,000/year to put into retirement & lump sum mortgage payments
  88. Start up a home development company to assist us (and others) in building homes
  89. Be able to work full-time as an accountant (from home!) for the export & home development companies by 2013
  90. Purchase a new vehicle for me in 2011 (or early 2012)
  91. Go to Halifax to meet up with the DoCo ladies and visit with The Boy <– Done! Posts are here
  92. Own a pair of Jimmy Choo’s
  93. Own a pair of William Rast Jeans <– Ordered and shipped from HauteLook. Waiting for their arrival. Arrive June 10!
  94. Volunteer 1 day a month
  95. Own a dog –> halfway there – we have a cat!
  96. Decorate our new house well
  97. Have 100+ items on my life list <– I’m calling this DONE!
  98. Go to South Africa and see Great White Sharks
  99. Own a fox
  100. Photograph 20 weddings in 2012 with the photography business
  101. Go to WPPI in Las Vegas in 2012
  102. Complete the full P90x program in 2011 (starting March 28 – complete within 90 days)
  103. Learn how to make pergoies from scratch
  104. Make homemade pasta
  105. See the Vancouver Canucks win a Stanley Cup (I realize I have zero control over this)
