Boxing Day Recap

Yikes.

Two days since Boxing Day and still no post up? Jeepers, I’m not doing so well on the blogging front this break :)

To recap, here’s what I had hoped to find on Boxing Day:

  • Clairsonic from Sephora (I’m hoping it’s on sale!)
  • Jeggings from Express (I have two $25 off if you spend $50 coupons on top of sale prices)
  • Steam mop (to keep the allergies at bay with the kitty)
  • New front closet doors (because the dang things broke)
  • Goodies from Bath and Body Works (if I see anything I like)
  • Present for The Cowboy (we used Airmiles to purchase replacement headphones for him)

And here’s what I managed to buy, complete with photos, of course! :)

Christmas themed Philosophy products

New totally awesome hairdryer!

Clairsonic. Yay!

Sephora free gift and the Christmas present I bought for my sister but then I paid for her bus ticket so I’ll probably just keep it from Bath & Body Works :)

Humidifier

New closet doors – although these really will hinder my picture taking ability since we have no full length mirror in the house now….

Steam mop! Yay!

(I know need to pull this out and re-mop my floors since the kitten decided to step in poop this morning. Ew!)

What post would be complete without gratitutous pictures of said stinky kitten?! :)

Snoozing on the couch with The Cowboy

Sleeping in our bed. He’s decided he prefers to sleep in my chest, or on our pillows.

Also – thank goodness the poop incident didn’t happen when we were sleeping. Ugh. Cat poop in our bed would be GROSS.

Happy Wednesday everyone :)

We’re opening presents with The Cowboy’s parents tomorrow so I’m sure I’ll be posting about more fun things. We’re crossing our fingers for a Soda Stream!

Getting ready for Boxing Day

I’ve come to realize that Boxing Day is more of a Canadian celebration than North American.

In Britain,[15] Canada,[16] New Zealand and some states of Australia,[17] Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday, much like the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is a time where shops have sales, often with dramatic price reductions. For many merchants, Boxing Day has become the day of the year with the greatest revenue

(from Wikipedia)

The Cowboy and I aren’t always around for Boxing Day, some years we’re in our home town and some years we’re somewhere tropical.

Since we’re around this year, I’ve decided to hit up some (hopefully) awesome Boxing Day sales.

In preparation for the day, The Cowboy and I are going to try to be at the mall at 8am when it opens (neither one of us are impressed by the early hour, but I think it’ll be worth it to beat the crowds!) with a list in hand. Shopping with a list is WAY better than wandering aimlessly around a crowded mall.

As of right now, here’s my list:

  • Clairsonic from Sephora (I’m hoping it’s on sale!)
  • Jeggings from Express (I have two $25 off if you spend $50 coupons on top of sale prices)
  • Steam mop (to keep the allergies at bay with the kitty)
  • New front closet doors (because the dang things broke)
  • Goodies from Bath and Body Works (if I see anything I like)
  • Present for The Cowboy (we used Airmiles to purchase replacement headphones for him)

I’m sure The Cowboy and I will end up doing a lap around the mall and picking up some other goodies (especially if Coach or Burberry have some good sales!) and then we plan to be home in time for the Canada vs. Finland hockey game that starts at 11:30 :)

Will you be taking part in Boxing Day sales?

This blog is now all about my cat

Okay.

Not really.

But expect to see quite a few kitten pictures being posted in the next few days :)

The Cowboy agreed to go pay a visit to some kittens to see how he did (plus, all family members have to be present in order to adopt) and his allergies didn’t bug him even a teeny bit!

YAY!

We’re trying to keep him in our bathroom/bedroom as much as possible until he settles in and to minimize the about of cat hair in the house until after the IL’s leave. I’m not even allowed to post him on Facebook until the IL’s leave because we want to keep it as quiet as possible.

He was given the name Ernest when he came in (abandoned by his mom), but The Cowboy and I decided to change it. After tossing some lame names back and forth (Blackie) we settled on Maverick – yes, it was inspired by Top Gun :)

He purrs on the entire time he eats…..

…and sleeps :)

I may have also convinced The Cowboy to let him sleep in bed with us. Maybe……

Condo Updates: Part 3 – Couch

Our new sectional arrived at the most perfect time this weekend!

My dad and The Cowboy were able to pick it up (horray) and have it set up before my sister arrived :)

All 5 of us were able to fit on the couch comfortably AND it’s even not too bad to sleep on.

We originally weren’t sure if it would arrive on time (I may have done a HUGE happy dance when we got the call that it was in) and were a bit stressed as to where we’d seat everyone.

LOVES IT! :)
