Downtown Dining
I try not to eat out two days in a row, or even two meals in a row (I’m going out for dinner tonight!) but when my friend invited me out for lunch, I had to go. Eating downtown is something I haven’t done in 9 months and she’s flying to Australia tomorrow for 2 weeks, so I certainly wasn’t going to pass up a chance for some chit chat
We wandered up the street and decided to enjoy lunch outside on the patio – it’s a gorgeous day today!
We ended up eating soup, 1/2 sandwich, fries and cookies. All for $15! Not a bad deal if you ask me!
The Cowboy and I checked out this restaurant earlier this year and weren’t impressed, but I decided to give it another chance – and CHARCUT‘s lunch menu impressed.
Everything is served together on this cute little board. There are two warm fresh chocolate chip cookies in the paper bag. I saved mine for an afternoon snack to enjoy with my iced coffee. Perfect!
The potato soup was amazing. I’m not sure if I’m a big fan of the texture of truffles, but the soup was very good.
I have to say, the sammy looked a bit better than it tasted. It was a PLT with some sort of pork as the meat that was a bit fatty and didn’t have a lot of flavour. The house-made foccacia (made fresh every morning!) was very enjoyable.
How can you not love french fries covered in Parmesan?! I only had a few bites though, this runner doesn’t need too many french fries right now!

Necessities
It’s only my second day back at my new-old job and I’ve already been more productive than I was in 9 months of work at the previous job.
This is good. Really good.
I’m also thrilled to be back downtown in close proximity of Starbucks. I’ve already made two Sbux stops in two days. Yes, I do love Starbucks that much!
Sitting in an office cube all day requires some necessities, these are mine:
Iced venti half sweet green tea lemonade. Mmmmm. I love the GTL in the summer, so tasty and refreshing. I opted for the GTL over coffee today as my stomach is still not totally happy after Monday’s avocado. It’s happier, but I can’t say it’s happy.
Peach citrus lotion from Bath and Body Works. It smells delicious. I have an aversion to smelling like food, but this lotion isn’t too foody. Plus a fresh smelling lotion can help to cover up the weird lunch smells that occur in an office environment
(I also highly recommend the Coconut Lime Breeze lotion. Mmmmm)
I realize most people will turn up their noses at instant coffee, but Starbucks VIA coffees are really good. Seriously! I love me some Starbucks, but I don’t always enjoy what it does to my chequing account, so these coffees save me some cash (and some time!) and I can enjoy a mid-afternoon coffee at my desk!
What would be a Starbucks coffee without a Starbucks mug?! This reusable cold drink cup is perfect for the instant coffee, or just for drinking water, especially if you, like me, don’t like drinking water out of glasses. Yes, I know, strange.
