Stampede Round up: Chuckwagons
Goodness.
Has it really been a week since The Cowboy and I were at Stampede?!
Yikes
I’m sure falling behind.
I think that’s because I talk a lot
We started off our evening at Stampede by procuring some dinner. Burgers, fries and cesars is was! Mmmmmm.
Next we had an hour to kill before the Chuckwagons started so we checked out the heavy horse pull. The Clydesdales and Percheron’s started off by pulling 6500 pounds. Unfortunately we weren’t able to stay for the full pull, as last year the winner pulled 13,200 pounds. Crazy!
We ducked out around 8,500 pounds and then set out to procure some deep fried Oreos. In the past they’ve been really easy to find, this time? Notsomuch. We walked the and entire loop around the vendors before we found them. I was SO HAPPY to see them! AMAZING! Seriously!
Then we grabbed some diet Cokes (we *ahem* added our own rum) and grabbed our seats for the finale of the Chuckwagons. So fun!
This would be the Stagecoach that Will & Kate rode in to the BMO Centre on during their visit to Calgary earlier in the week.
After the Chuckwagons finished (Kelly Sutherland won for the twelfth time, making him the most winningest driver in the history of Stampede…..oh, and $100,000 richer) we got ready for the Grandstand Show.
We were pretty exhausted by the time the show started at 10:30, but we pushed through, and we were glad we did! The show was awesome, and the fireworks finale wasn’t bad, either!

Last Weekend
This past weekend was my last weekend before The Crazy sets in.
When planning our summer The Cowboy and I decided to take things as they came. Maybe take a few day trips for hikes and had loose plans to check out Waterton National Park and the Columbia Glacier.
Yeah, that’s not happening.
This summer has turned into unbelievably crazy.
Here’s a rundown of our summer plans (in colour coded calendar form, of course. I am a Type-A personality!)
Okay, so no you’re going to say, “Hey, Cowgirl, what do all those pretty colours mean?”
Dark purple – these are the weekends (or days) where I’m out of town. As you can see, there are quite a few weekends out of town coming up.
Orange – days in which The Cowboy and/or I have an event. Be it a concert, or dinner out with friends.
Teal -days and/or weekends where I’m working my contract job. This does not include my contract job that I start August 1 – September 30 where I have assignments due every Monday at 6pm.
Light purple – race days! I’m still deciding if I want to run the race on September 11, but I think it’ll be a good warm up for the race in Victoria in October.
Pink – free weekends! As you can see, they’re quite few and far between. I’m going to cherish them while I can.
These next three months are going to be exhausting. Absolutely, wonderfully, exhausting.
